What's left... Oh yeah.

Let's get those shelves up in the bathtub. The tape is to keep them from sagging until the mastic dries. After that, I'll caulk them in.

Here they are, all caulked in. As of this point, the bathtub is now technically usable. Speaking of shelves, I need to put something up in the closet
before I paint. We had a couple of 2-foot by 4-foot sheets of melamine-coated shelving in the garage, so I sliced them up into closet shelves, and
screwed some 1x3s onto the walls as support.

Works pretty well, I think. I need to get some of that melamine iron-on tape for the front of the shelves.
At this point, I taped everything up, intending to paint. But life kept interfering, and it sat there for a couple of weeks, all taped up and ready to paint. The tape kept coming loose, and I had to go in every couple of days and stick it back up.
Then I decided to just get it done, and Wendy and I painted. It's not really something that shows up in pictures, so I didn't take any. I'm now thinking that I hate painting more than I hate plumbing. After painting, I had a little energy left over, and figured there was one little thing I could do while I was motivated.

I turned off the water to the house, sliced off the cap on the toilet water supply, and installed the valve. To my amazement, it didn't leak at all. I decided I was still a tad motivated, so I did another thing.

Yay toilet. Hooked up the supply line, turned on the water, the tank filled up, and yet again, no leaks. I shudder to think what the plumbing demons are saving up for me.
Yes, I "christened" it.
Ok, now that I've gone that far, why not keep going?

Medicine cabinet installed. It's still got the protective plastic on it, which is why it looks a little dull.
Also, notice that the glass covers on the light fixture are gone. That's because they're just a hair too big, and hit the door of the medicine cabinet when it's opened.
This was a good stopping place. The painting, toilet, and medicine cabinet were done, all in one day! I figured there was one more trivial detail I could take care of - mounting the bottom brackets for the original mirror. The original mirror is too large to go over the vanity now. The tile stops higher than the original vanity, and the light fixture is in the way. It's a big mirror, and we decided to mount it on the opposite wall, and get another mirror for over the vanity. As a bonus, we'll get that cool infinite reflection thing going. Should only take a minute to mount the brackets. The mirror itself measures 42 inches square, and I'll probably need help actually installing it. Wendy's got some appointment this afternoon and can't help now. Measure out, then screw them in. No problem. Then I got to thinking. How heavy is that mirror anyway?

Not that heavy at all. What's left to do now?

Oh yeah. Vanity and sink. I also have to paint the door and doorframe. But that's pretty much it. The big thing is that the tub and toilet are now usable.
