It goes all the way to the ground. Funny story. I'm soldering away, lit torch in one hand, roll of solder in the other. It's hot, I'm sweating, and I lean over to make sure I got solder completely around the valve.
Then my glasses fell off, and went...
The glasses aren't magnetic, so I couldn't lower a magnet on a string. I couldn't even see them from up there. I checked the closet the central air unit was in, and there was no way back behind there. They were in the far back corner, as best I could tell, on the other side of the wall from the hot water heater closet.
So I busted a hole through the drywall in the bottom corner of the water heater closet, reached my hand through, groped around for a minute, and managed to find my glasses. Yay. I covered the holes in the wall, and called it a night.
